Tuning or Remapping is a software change within a vehicle’s electronic control unit (ECU). We modify the operating parameters within the code (or ‘map’) to increase the vehicle’s performance and/or economy.

Economy Tuning

Re-calibrating the ECU to improve fuel efficiency. The increase in torque will allow less gear changes and accelerator pedal movement, resulting in better fuel consumption and driveability. Economy Tuning is for Turbo Diesel vehicles only.

Stage 1 Tuning

Standard and unmodified vehicle with no hardware upgrades. Stage 1 Tune increases power and torque while also improving fuel efficiency. Removes flat spots and gives a more responsive drive without compromising reliability.

Stage 2 Tuning

Bigger increase in power and torque than Stage 1 tune. Often hardware upgrades are required before a Stage 2 tune can be applied. Removes flat spots and gives a more responsive drive without compromising reliability.

Bench Tuning

Tuning cannot be done directly through the OBD2 port, sometimes. This is when a bench tune is needed.
Bench tuning involves disconnecting the engine control unit (ECU) from the vehicle and connecting it to a specialized equipment on a workbench. The ECU will be then re-programmed with a custom software to optimize the engine’s performance. Bench tuning offers precise control over the tuning process and is ideal for advanced tuning, such as optimizing fuel and ignition maps. In order to bench tune, the ECU has to be removed completely from the vehicle, and specialized equipment is required. Therefore, cost will be different.
